Lingard claims this Man Utd legend predicted his future correctly

Jesse Lingard claims Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson predicted his future correctly before he faced off against Swansea on Saturday.

The Englishman was one of the club’s better performers on the day and was unlucky to conclude the match without a goal after a couple of efforts that he had.

Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez were the ones on the scoresheet instead as United cruised to a 2-0 home win that sets up their clash with Manchester City next weekend well.

Lingard will be hoping to start the fixture then too and potentially score to make amends for his missed opportunities vs the Swans.

The academy product has had a breakthrough season this campaign, finding himself on the team sheet far more often than many expected him to.

According to the Mirror, Jesse said to Sky Sports: “Me and my dad put that trust in him [Ferguson] to say that. It’s obviously worked. He guessed right.

“I think it’s my time now. I knew we had to step up and kind of take charge. That’s what I’ve done. The goals have come, which has given me confidence. Each game I just want to score now, that’s my main objective.”

Sir Alex was known for his ability to judge players and their mentalities and it’s no real surprise he predicted Jesse Lingard‘s career correctly.

The iconic Scotsman guessed that the versatile attacker would be a regular for club and country at the age of 25 which has turned out to be true for the most part.

Mostly a squad player last season, Lingard’s won over Jose Mourinho convincingly this campaign and appears to be on his way to the World Cup with England.

While his international team are yet to show the same appreciation that United fans do, he has been starting games more and more often.

Gareth Southgate is said to be a fan as well and that will surely work in Jesse’s favour but he will still have to continue his fine form with competition for places on the international and club stage.
