Chelsea star confirms season-ending injury

Michy Batshuayi has taken to Twitter to confirm that he will not play again this season.

The striker suffered ligament damage in his ankle during Borussia Dortmund’s 2-0 defeat to Schalke on Sunday.

The Belgian forward has now seen his World Cup dream put on hold as he focuses on his recovery between now and the summer.

A place in Roberto Martinez’s squad is not out of the question but the forward is in a race against time ahead of the tournament in Russia.

Batshuayi’s time at Dortmund will seemingly end on a sour note, despite showing some of his best form in the Bundesliga.
