Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso is being lined up by Barcelona for a move back to Spain.
According to GOAL, Barcelona are considering Alonso as a replacement for Gerard Pique.
Despite currently playing as a left-wing-back for Chelsea, Barcelona feel that he can adapt into a central defender to replace Pique.
Alonso was tasked with playing in the heart of a defence at Fiorentina from time to time, but he is more well known for his quality as a fullback.
The Spaniard is currently serving a ban for violent conduct after he stamped on Southampton forward Shane Long’s legs earlier this month.
The 27-year-old has been at Chelsea since 2016, when he joined the club from Fiorentina for £23m.
Alonso has scored six Premier League goals for the club so far this season, having also netted six times in his debut campaign.
He was recently named in the PFA Team of the Year, having missed out on a spot to Danny Rose in the side last season.
