Romelu Lukaku has been described as “unplayable” ahead of Manchester United’s huge clash with Liverpool.
Former-Manchester United assistant manager Steve McClaren hailed the Belgian striker, who joined the Reds for an initial £75m from fellow Premier League side Everton last summer.
Having hit 23 goals this season, and grabbed a number of assists, Lukaku has been one of Jose Mourinho’s most important players at Man United.
“Lukaku scores goals and is the focal point,” McClaren asserted. “I’d buy Lukaku because as a manager whenever I came up against him I hated it, sometimes he is unplayable in his strength, power and finishing.”
Lukaku has been in the best form of his United career so far in recent months. He scored a vital goal against champions Chelsea in a 2-1 win and grabbed the equaliser in last Monday’s fantastic 3-2 comeback victory away at Crystal Palace.
“Look at his record, he scores goals that wins games,” McClaren said.
Once Sir Alex Ferguson’s assistant, McClaren has held many managerial positions since. Ahead of a game that is key in deciding who finishes second in the Premier League this campaign, the Englishman said he’s still fully supporting United.
“Once a red, always a red. Once you work there, you’re part of the family. It’s ingrained in you,” McClaren continued, before declaring that “Manchester United are the bigger club [than Liverpool].”
