Manchester United attacking midfielder Andreas Pereira is adamant that he wants to remain with the La Liga side until the end of the season.
Recent reports have suggested that Man United boss Jose Mourinho will look to recall his Brazilian forward from the season-long loan move in January, to add more creativity to United’s squad depth.
Pereira is hoping that’s not the case, and has never been shy of stating that, as he has now done so once more.
“I am happy at this club and want to continue here,” Pereira told Super Deporte.
“I always wanted to stay here until June…I know United have an option to take me back in January but right now my mind is focused here.
“It’s important that I continue to grow and improve at this stage of my career, if I returned to join Manchester United in the middle of the season it would be tough for me to improve like I am now.
“I always knew that I’d made the right decision in the summer and my only aim is to continue here.
“Everything is going well and everyone, like Guedes, wants to stay.”
Pereira joined Valencia for first team football and to continue developing in the Spanish league, having spent a year at Granada CF last year, who were relegated from the top division despite Pereira’s best efforts.
He’s started four La Liga game under Valencia boss Marcelino. United could bring him back, but Pereira clearly wants to stay for more gametime, and his development will likely be greater at Valencia. However, coming back may provide a chance to breakthrough in a weaker squad than United will have next season after another summer transfer window under Jose Mourinho.
