Manchester United fans were not pleased at all with their team’s performance vs Sevilla in the Champions League knockout stages.
Jose Mourinho’s men were a completely different side to the one that tore apart Liverpool in the Premier League on Saturday.
United were sloppy and slow for much of the match, allowing the Spanish side to grow in confidence as the game continued to draw on.
With the first leg having ended 0-0, Mourinho’s players needed to ensure they don’t concede and outscore their opponents at Old Trafford.
Instead, the Red Devils found themselves a goal down after the first half and were forced to up the tempo against a team who could afford to sit back.
#MUFC atrocious with the ball in all phases of play at the moment. Crying out for a bit of composure in there.

Oh my! Not a great half. Jesse and Rashford are the only two trying to make things happen. Alexis trying to but frustrated. Lukaku isolated.
For me, it all starts in the midfield. CHANGE IT! #MatchdayMac #MUFC #MUNSEV

This is a Champions League night at Old Trafford and none of the players have turned up. Unforgivable if this continues in the second half. You play for Manchester United boys, play up to the standards that badge on your shirt represents. #mufc

At home in a game we need to win and we're being played off the park and resorting to long ball when we have a bench full of attacking talent#MUFC

I’ve always said that having an actual midfield is pointless

Come on lads. Huge 45 minutes ahead. Sevilla are there for the taking. A couple of tactical changes and we’ll win this. #mufc

To make matters worse, they then conceded once more to really rub salt in the players’ wounds as supporters failed to grasp what was happening in front of their eyes.
Jose attempted to change things up by making certain substitutions but the truth is that he never truly addressed Manchester United’s tactical problems.
Nemanja Matic and Marouane Fellaini were the pair in midfield with the latter player seemingly given the freedom to alternate with the more attacking Jesse Lingard.
Whatever the instructions were, United often left the Serbian isolated in midfield, with him often being unable to protect the defence as well as do his usual role.
Fellaini and Lingard failed to help him time and time again, thankfully the La Liga side couldn’t initially take advantage of it.
However the introduction of a more forward thinking attacker by Sevilla saw them take advantage of Matic’s isolation.
