Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Anthony Martial has recovered in time to feature in Manchester United’s last 16 Champions League clash with Sevilla.
The Frenchman, who was left on the bench in Seville, missed Man United’s 3-2 win over Crystal Palace with what was described as a small knock.
However, he was also unavailable for last weekend’s victory over Liverpool, prompting fears that the injury was worse than first thought.
But Mourinho has confirmed at a press conference on Monday that Martial was available for selection at Old Trafford having trained with the first team at Carrington.

United’s midfield three of Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez and Juan Mata in the first leg was designed with counter-attacking purposes in mind – a triumvirate capable of supplying and finishing off one killer pass to make all the difference – but it ultimately caused the visitors to stagnate and regress during the game.
And with the onus now on United to attack, to bring the fight, Mourinho simply cannot neglect the explosive attacking influence offered out wide by Martial. Never before in his career has the 22-year-old been so prolific going forward; nobody in the Premier League has a better goals to minutes ratio this season.
Getting the ball to him quickly during the early stages would put the visitors under some serious pressure. An early goal, galvanised by another quick start, would give the hosts a perfect platform to dominate this encounter in a way they could not last month.
