Arsene Wenger has claimed that the signings of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan have lifted the Arsenal dressing room (via Arsenal.com).
It has become pretty obvious in the last few months that something has been very wrong in the Arsenal dressing room.
The players just haven’t been combining well and few even look prepared to compete for one another on the pitch.
That changed on Saturday. The Gunners were quick and decisive in attack as Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan both impressed on their full debuts.
Now, Arsene Wenger has confirmed what many fans believed to be the case: that the pair has give the rest of the team a much-needed boost.
“Yes, it’s always when you have new players it gives always a little positive swing,” said the boss. “It wakes everybody up as well because there’s suddenly competition so they have to live with that as well.
“Overall, I think as well we have a game based on team spirit so that kind of acceptance is very important, and when they show on a football field that they accept our game, they are even easier to integrate into the team.”
It was good to see the new players looking so comfortable in the Arsenal team. Let’s hope that continues to be the case in the coming months starting with Spurs on Saturday.
