Manchester United are reportedly considering Everton’s Jordan Pickford as David de Gea‘s replacement if rumours continue to develop.
The Englishman is highly rated but has only just joined the Toffees last summer in an estimated £30m transfer from Sunderland.
Pickford is expected to eventually become his nation’s first choice goalkeeper and has just about featured for his club in every match they’ve played this season.
Although he’s 23 years old, it appears as though United are willing to gamble once more in the goalkeeping department as they once did on a young De Gea.
The Spaniard arrived at Old Trafford as a relative nobody and after a nervous start turned himself into one of the world’s best goalkeepers.
According to Goal, The Daily Star report that the Red Devils are ready to pounce on Everton’s Jordan should they lose David to Real Madrid in the summer.
Rumours of his move the Spanish capital have been relentless and there have been mixed reports of whether or not they’re no longer interested.
It’s been said that the club’s poor form in the league this season has convinced Zinedine Zidane to splash the cash once the summer transfer window comes around.
Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois is another player on Madrid’s radar but it seems that they favour David de Gea given his apparent interest in returning to his home nation.
If Manchester United lose such an important figure in their squad, it appears that it’s a little unusual that they’re not considering investing in proven top talent to hopefully avoid any transition issues.
