Marcus Rashford will be monitored closely this week after an injury scare against Huddersfield Town.
The Englishman has features in every single game for Manchester United, in all competitions, an astonishing record.
A minor tweak would be unsurprising given the amount of football he’s played. Rashford’s recent appearances have often been from the bench, due to both fatigue and form.
He replaced Juan Mata in the second half against Huddersfield as Man United comfortably saw off the Terrirers 2-0. However, ESPN suggest that Rashford struggled in the final 20 minutes and felt pain in his leg.
ESPN report that United’s medical staff will now monitor the 20-year-Old closely ahead of Sunday’s trip to Newcastle United.
Manager Jose Mourinho won’t be short for options even if Rashford is a unavailable. New signing Alexis Sanchez scored his first goal for the club against Huddersfield, and is well into the start of his United career, with the Newcastle game set to be his fourth appearance.
Romelu Lukaku netted at the weekend and he’s been in relatively good form recently while, aside from a poor display against Tottenham Hotspur, Anthony Martial has looked electric as well as Jesse Lingard.
Rashford, though, could probably do with a rest even if the injury scare is nothing major. His record of playing every game this season is nice, but should be sacrificed to maintain his long-term fitness and not risk a potentially serious injury caused by muscle fattigue.
