Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta has said that he and his teammates are still fighting for their manager Antonio Conte despite losing 4-1 at Watford last night, as reported by Sky Sports.
The Blues were well beaten by Watford with three goals coming in the final ten minutes as Conte’s side capitulated.
Tiemoue Bakayoko has to shoulder the most blame for this as he was sent off just after the half-hour mark, which led to the Blues not being able play in their usual style.
Conte’s future has been left hanging in the balance following the defeat and now faces huge pressure ahead of their visit from West Brom next Monday.
Chelsea have now lost to Bournemouth and Watford in their last two games with an aggregate score of 7-1 which, for a club of their size, is simply not good enough.
The Chelsea defender spoke about his defence for his manager.
No. I think if you see the training sessions, we all fight hard. We are the first to be disappointed with the way the last two games went. That’s really hard. We are getting penalized in the bad moments we are having in the game.
He went on to add:
It’s not a long period, but in this league, which is so tough, you get punished as soon as you drop a bit. We are here all together. We are all disappointed with the result.
I know that there has been speculation all the time in the five to six years I have been here. As a player, what I want is to come back to the training pitch as soon as possible, to work hard and to get into Monday’s game, to get the three points and to get our confidence back.
