Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has told their supporters to back the team and still support them as they look to get through the sticky patch which they are in at the moment as reported by the Belfast Telegraph.
During Saturday’s goalless draw with Leicester City in some parts of the stadium, there were signs of discontent towards the team after picking up their fourth successive draw in all competitions which included the third 0-0 in that spell.
Chelsea were in truth lucky to come away with a point after the Foxes dominated for much of the encounter and something doesn’t look quite right at the club as they slipped to 4th place in the Premier League and are struggling to score many goals at the moment.
The Chelsea stopper spoke about the need for the fans support as they are all going through a tough time at the moment.
I know we as a team didn’t have a good game, it was our third goalless draw, but we need the fans here at Stamford Bridge to get behind the team and not, when a player has a bad pass or a bad shot, start booing and whistling.
I don’t think we’re playing a bad season.
Courtois continued adding:
It’s important that the fans must know that we want to play out from the back,
And they don’t have to get nervous. If they start shouting it doesn’t help us. (Against Leicester there) was too much of that.
When we play out from the back it’s important for us that they know that we want to do that. There’s a risk involved and we know that, but that’s our game.
Chelsea face another important game this midweek as they face a visit from Championship side Norwich in their FA Cup 3rd round replay following a 0-0 draw in the first match.
