Chelsea’s approach to bring in West Ham forward Andy Carroll on a loan basis looks set to fail because the Hammers are only prepared to sell for a fee because they need it to reinvest into their squad this window, as reported by the London Evening Standard.
The Blues are looking to bolster their attacking options due to the lack of goals from frontman Alvaro Morata as they look to secure their place in the top four.
Chelsea were linked with a late move for Alexis Sanchez but look unlikely to beat Manchester United to the Chilean.
Carroll has been unable to hold down a place in the West Ham squad and is looking to play regularly this season.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has shown a lack of faith in Michy Batshuayi and with Morata out of form the Blues boss is in the market for a different attacking option.
