Bordeaux President, Stéphane Martin has provided Arsenal fans with an unwelcome update on the potential transfer of Malcom (via GFFN).
It’s a transfer which has seemingly come out of nowhere but it seemed that almost everyone involved wants to pull this one off until now.
20-year-old Malcom may not be a household name but it seems that Arsenal are hugely keen on bringing the youngster to the Emirates this January.
The rumours linking the Bordeaux man with a move to North London started last week and peaked yesterday when the Ligue 1 side’s manager admitted that he is taking his player’s future day-by-day.
Well, now the French club’s president has spoken about a potential deal for Malcom in an update that will hardly fill Arsenal fans with confidence.
“Things are clear with his agents,” claimed Stéphane Martin. “We did not sign him to an extension and tie him to something, to let him go this winter.
“We have never had a discussion with Arsenal. From our point of view, it is nothing but hot air. They can always try, but they will struggle to take him from us.”
We reported earlier that David Ornstein believes Arsenal are unlikely to get all three of their biggest targets: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Malcom. Right now, it seems that the player the Gunners are most likely to miss out on in this window is the Ligue 1 man.
