Chelsea have reportedly had their first approach for Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey turned down.
The Blues have been intently watching the tricky wide man in recent times and, if the Daily Mail are to be believed, have drawn first blood in the race to land him.
A host of other top European teams are interested in the Jamaican U23 international, who has impressed for Leverkusen this season. But if Bailey’s potential suitors are to land him in the near future it seems they will have to fork out a considerable sum of money.
It’s stated by the Daily Mail that Chelsea’s rejected proposal was worth £22 million, indicating that Leverkusen will demand top dollar for their bright prospect.
Chelsea are likely to face competition from the likes of Real Madrid for Bailey in January as they aim to add attacking quality to the ranks. However, it doesn’t seem as though a mid-season transfer is likely.
