Paul Pogba played an instrumental role in Manchester United’s 3-1 win over Arsenal on Wednesday night despite picking up a red card in the 74th minute.
The Frenchman was the catalyst behind a series of ruthless counter-attacks from the visitors, supplying a crisp assist for Antonio Valencia in the fourth minute.
And with Arsenal banging on Man United’s door, Pogba made a mockery of captain Laurent Koscielny before teeing up Jesse Lingard for a tap-in, only to see his night cut short by a needless challenge on Hector Bellerin that merited a red card.
Nevertheless, the 24-year-old’s numbers from the game tell the story of what was a dominant display in the middle.
Pogba's game by numbers vs. Arsenal:
100% tackles won
3 tackles
2 clearances
2 dribbles
2 assists
1 shot
1 red cardWhat a performance up until the 74th min. http://pic.twitter.com/j8wr4VuQfa

It is an immense shame that one of Pogba’s finer displays in a Man United shirt will be forever clouded by a moment of madness towards the end.
But make no mistake: this is what the Frenchman dominating a big game away from home looks like. He was faultless on the ball, always picking the right pass, and drove United forward to give their back four a rest from the home side’s onslaught and, crucially, the front three a chance to inflict serious damage on the break.
He will miss the clash with Manchester City – a massive, massive blow – but supporters will hope that this performance serves as a precursor for further decisive displays against the top sides during the business end of the season.
