Real Madrid have struggled to replace Iker Casillas and they continue to be linked with a move for two of the Premier League’s best shot-stoppers – Thibaut Courtois and David de Gea.
After spending years pursuing De Gea, notably coming close in the 2015 summer transfer window, Madrid have reportedly made Courtois their top goalkeeper target, say the Mirror, as they look to take advantage of his contract situation.
The 25-year-old Belgian has won two Premier League titles at Stamford Bridge but his contract is set to expire at the end of next season and talks regarding a new deal have stalled in recent times.
European giants Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus are all monitoring his situation as Chelsea could be forced to cash-in on the goalkeeper next summer.
Courtois has spoken glowingly of his time in Madrid after spending time on loan with Atletico, and a transfer to their city rivals Real has never been ruled out.
