Paul Pogba is unlikely to feature for Manchester United against Newcastle United on Saturday with the club cautious to put him under any risks after such a protracted spell on the sidelines, according to reports.
The Frenchman has missed Man United’s last 12 games after suffering a hamstring injury against FC Basel back in September.
He has been training with the reserves over the international break and could receive a place in the match-day squad for the clash with Rafa Benitez’s side.
But according to the Telegraph’s James Ducker, the club will not risk throwing Pogba back into the spotlight so soon after recovering from injury.
Pogba told his France teammates over the weekend that he would be “back soon” and many believed that the home game against Newcastle would serve as the perfect time for the midfielder to return and lay down a marker – both in mood and style – differing notably from the malaise United encountered throughout October.
But supporters will just have to wait slightly longer to see their talisman return. The hard part, so to speak, is very much over ahead of a busy December period, with Michael Carrick and Marcos Rojo set to make returns to the match-day squad as well.
