Manchester United star Aaron Wan-Bissaka has given Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and fans a scare by pulling out of the England squad with an injury.
The former Crystal Palace star has been phenomenal since his move to Old Trafford with supporters not having enough of him.
Wan-Bissaka’s performances have shown he will certainly have an iron grip on the right-back spot and it will take something special to overtake him.
Diogo Dalot is the player most likely to do so but he’s injured himself which could see Ashley Young continue to play as a back-up to both full-back positions.
The last thing Solskjaer needed was for the injuries to already start to pile up given his club’s inconsistent and disappointing form so far.

Some fans have questioned whether the sensational Englishman is even truly injured as the Red Devils have been known in the past to request their players to avoid international duty.
Alexis Sanchez has spoken out about his time at Manchester United for the first time since joining Inter Milan on loan.
The Chilean, who joined from Arsenal in January 2018, has been nothing short of a disaster at Old Trafford and does not figure in the plans of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Having managed just two goals from 27 appearances last season, Sanchez completed a loan move to Inter last week, with United agreeing to subsidise a high portion of his wages at the San Siro.
Speaking to the BBC, Sanchez stressed that he did not regret joining United, but did point out certain elements which he found frustrating.

It will be genuinely intriguing to see how Sanchez fares at Inter Milan, to see whether whatever it is weighing the forward down – like a car going at 50mph with its handbrake still on – derives from United or something deeper, something more indelible.
To my mind, it is unlikely that we will see a sudden change. Sanchez, in a way, strikes one as similar to Wayne Rooney circa 2016 – a player who, over the years, has played so many games, ran so hard for everything, that his running is now blunted forever, not quite blessed with that same explosive zip.
For Sanchez, that zip, that crazy turn of pace and direction at close quarters (remember the goal he scored against United in 2015?), was everything to his game. Now that appears to have gone.

Rashford came in for heavy criticism after the Southampton game in particular as he missed multiple chances to give his side the lead.

Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho has broken his silence amidst new links to a potential move to Manchester United.
The latest reports claimed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer won’t panic buy to bolster a thin on numbers attack and will instead be patient whilst he works on bringing in his first choice target.
That target was said to be Sancho with United believed to not be put off by his reported new contract in Germany.
Solskjaer will likely have to break the bank to pry the talented Englishman away from Dortmund who are thoroughly convinced by his potential.
A little tug of war occurred this summer but it was over relatively quickly due to the Red Devils’ lack of Champions League football.
According to the BBC, Sancho said: “I can’t tell the future but I wouldn’t mind [returning to the Premier League]. La Liga I wouldn’t mind also, but we don’t know yet.
“I feel that every league is very competitive. The Premier League is one of the best leagues in the world, everyone knows that.”
It certainly offers Manchester United hope in their pursuit of Sancho but that will only transpire into a real move if they qualify for next season’s edition of the Champions League and even then there’ll still be work to do to convince him to sign.
What helps is that the sensational youngsters has a host of his international teammates already at Old Trafford with the likes of Harry Maguire, Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford all potentially whispering in his ear to complete a move.
Paul Pogba has been withdrawn from the France squad for internationals this month due to an ankle injury sustained against Southampton.
The midfielder received widespread criticism for an especially poor first-half performance as Manchester United failed to win their eighth away game in a row at St Mary’s.
To make things worse, Pogba was videoed limping back towards the team coach as the players left the ground on Saturday.
And it has been since confirmed by GFFN that Pogba had been withdrawn and replaced by Matteo Guendouzi for games against Albania and Andorra this month.

A blessing in disguise, perhaps, removing Pogba from the threat of another potential injury when away with France, or maybe the start of a spiral of incomplete updates regarding When Pogba Will Return, much like between September and November 2017.
At this point, it is far too early to say, although Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did not seem to believe that the injury was serious when immediately asked about it following the game.
This midfield, as seen in glaring fashion over the weekend, is already suffering from a dearth of options and quality, even with Pogba in there. It makes for truly grim reading if he is missing for a while.
When the likes of Herrera, Smalling, Darmian, Sanchez and Lukaku left Old Trafford and no midfield or forward reinforcements were signed, we were invited to see Olé Gunnar Solskjaer’s vision: it was time for the Class of ‘19. On opening day, the average age of United’s line-up was easily the youngest in the Premier League, and waiting in the wings we had another crop of exciting young talents in Mason Greenwood, Axel Tuanzebe, Tahith Chong, Angel Gomes and James Garner.
It was easy to buy into this plan. As a true fan, you could even accept that United might not make the top four this season, because it was going to be a transitional year, the year in which these young mavericks were let loose on the Premier League, much like 1993/94 when Sir Alex Ferguson put his faith in the Class of ‘92. This was going to be pretty exciting.
Now of course that may all still happen, and maybe I’m being impatient, but we are now four games in, and struggling, and yet of these young pretenders who lit up the pre-season tour – only Greenwood has seen minutes on the pitch, and they have been scarce (47 minutes – an average of 12 per game).
I understand “easing them in gradually” but that’s fine if the first team is performing. It isn’t. When Solskjaer finally decided to drop Jesse Lingard after three poor performances, he didn’t turn to the like-for-like replacement in Angel Gomes, he called instead upon veteran Juan Mata. When Anthony Martial was injured, Solskjaer had a like-for-like replacement at centre forward in Mason Greenwood, or a like-for-like replacement on the left wing of Tahith Chong. Yet he chose to reinstate another underperforming 24-year-old, Andreas Pereira. And when those two players (Mata and Pereira) in turn were subbed after 68 minutes, they were replaced not by any of the youngsters, but by the player who was dropped in the first place, Lingard, and another veteran, Nemanja Matic. Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford put in one of his worst performances in a United shirt, but was not taken off for the precocious Greenwood, who only finally got on the pitch with 8 minutes to go and had time for just a couple of touches and one quick goal attempt, which was arguably the best piece of attacking play the entire team had managed in the second half.
So why is Solskjaer hesitating to introduce the fresh blood he supposedly has faith in?
Victor Lindelof is underperforming at centre back. Solskjaer has shown intent in putting Axel Tuanzebe on the bench ahead of the likes of Phil Jones, but now the time has come to put him in the starting line-up alongside Harry Maguire to see what he can do. Lindelof was one of United’s better performers in the second half of last season, but his frailty in the air is starting to become a problem and will now be targeted by opposing teams. I don’t normally advocate chopping and changing centre back partnerships before they have had a chance to gel, but it’s early enough in the season to experiment and the only way we’re going to see if Axel can take the step up is to give him a run of a few games.
As for Mason Greenwood, it’s time to unleash him. Ten minutes is not long enough. Start him in the next game against Leicester. If Martial is fit, rest Rashford for a game and let’s just see what Mason can do with the full 90. Rashford is inconsistent and plays at his best when he has a point to prove, so I say give him some competition and allow Greenwood to stake his claim. Rooney, Ronaldo and Messi were all good enough at 17, so why shouldn’t Greenwood be?
If this is really a transitional season when the Class of ‘19 are brought through, then Solskjaer also needs to put his faith in youngsters in those key slots in the middle of the park. If he wants to continue with 4-2-3-1, trust Gomes in the number 10 role, or in a 4-3-3, put Garner alongside Pogba and McSauce.
At age 21, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Dan James have been United’s stand out performers so far this season. AWB had only 35 Premier League games under his belt when arriving at United and James, of course, had none. Their performances alone should encourage Solskjaer to really go for it, throw some of the others in at the deep end and see what they can do. Otherwise, what’s the point of this season and of this (lack of) transfer policy?
Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Southampton over the weekend brought out the absolute worst from the club’s fanbase – including yours truly – as they had to watch another pathetic attacking performance from their team.
The visitors went 1-0 up through Daniel James, the only positive aspect of the attack, and should have added more in a first-half which saw them dominate the ball and create chances.
However, as has recently been the case, the game somehow slipped away from United, who could not capitalise on Kevin Danso’s red card to produce a winner after Jannik Vestergaard equalised with a header.
On the morning after, in the cold light of day, I went to the good people of Twitter to see who they believed was the real cause behind Saturday’s horror show.
The results were incredibly varied, and perhaps a sign of how this malaise has become so endemic to the extent that nobody is exempt, that all are cursed.
Firstly, there were a number of angry fingers pointed at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, whose failure to put out a team capable of picking apart teams playing a low block was once again highlighted by many. Speaking to former Tottenham Hotspur and Brentford midfielder Brian Statham after the game, the main thing he wanted to emphasise was Solskjaer’s lack of ability at this level. It was a scathing weekend for the Norwegian.
Ole and Rashford. Rashford seems to think he's the shit now and only does the most complicated things like he's Ronaldo. Ole for not being able to cement a way of playing. It's just as ineffective, ballwatching and slow play as last year.
And then they came for Rashford. The striker has looked off-colour since scoring a brace against Chelsea and was especially impotent at St Mary’s, seemingly unable to get on the end of anything in the box. As the leading striker, and in many ways the senior out of James and Jesse Lingard, his failure to show up going forward meant that there was no reference point for those last 20 minutes, during which United really should have scored.
Then, of course, was the anger targeted at the supervening structure, the fat cats, the Glazers, Ed Woodward – those faceless technocrats whose business-first approach has driven this club into a cultural quagmire which will take maybe a decade to fully emerge from. Scanning through the replies, the higher-ups probably just about edged it in terms of points.
At the start of this piece, I said that this game brought out the worst in all United fans, including me. Indeed, as the below response highlights, the very asking of this question was misplaced, a sign of the culture of doom and blame existing not just among United fans but indeed us Brits as a whole in this sticky Brexit period.
Why should we blame someone, that is who we are at the moment, with young team we going forward to our next lvl, we will have a lot hard moments but that is our challenge. We need to build our squad around young and hungry players.
Perhaps we ought to remember that Liverpool finished 8th under Jurgen Klopp, that things take time, that Solskjaer, actually, has a plan that needs time to actualise itself, that perhaps the most cancerous aspect of Saturday was indeed ourselves.

Arsenal legend Robert Pires has praised “warrior” Matteo Guendouzi after the midfielder’s impressive performance in the North London Derby (via The Athletic).
It was ultimately a disappointing afternoon on Sunday but there were some definite positives for Arsenal.
Alexandre Lacazette put in a fine performance but Arsenal’s standout player on the day was Matteo Guendouzi who grabbed an assist for the crucial second goal.
The midfielder hassled, harried, and created from the midfield in an all-action display which attracted another long-haired Frenchman who once played for the Gunners.
“Matteo is a warrior,” Robert Pires told The Athletic.
“He had a fantastic match. He’s a combative player and what I like about him is that he is consistent with that. He does his job, patrolling defensive midfield, winning the ball, tackling well, and then playing the ball quickly and simply.
“That’s why he is an important player for Unai and for Arsenal. I liked the reaction of the team to going 2-0 down, the manner of the response.”
It was an encouraging performance from Matteo Guendouzi off the back of an eye-catching start to the season. The Frenchman has had an excellent start to his second campaign and yesterday was just another step towards that. The midfielder is an excellent prospect and will only improve as time goes on.

However, it seems as if another Gunners player will be leaving the Emirates today with Henrikh Mkhitaryan in Italy to complete a transfer.
The former Manchester United man is set to sign for AS Roma on a season-long loan deal with no option to buy.
The Armenian midfielder has spent 18 months at the Emirates since his move from Old Trafford but has failed to make much of an impression on the club in that time.
The two clubs reached an agreement which will see Roma pay a loan fee and a good portion of Mkhitaryan’s £180,000 weekly wages.
It’s a good deal for Arsenal. Henrikh Mkhitaryan hasn’t lived up to expectations at Arsenal and it’s for the best that he moves on. The Armenian has been given additional competition in attack this summer with the arrivals of Nicolas Pepe, Gabriel Martinelli, and the returning Reiss Nelson.
Matteo Darmian has completed a permanent transfer to Parma from Manchester United after four years at the club.
The Italian, who moved to Old Trafford from Torino for £12.7m in 2015, made 92 appearances for United over four seasons, scoring just once (a banger against Crystal Palace).
In recent times, Darmian has been an almost invisible figure at Old Trafford, playing no part in pre-season and managing just seven appearances in all competitions last term.
The club confirmed on Monday morning that Darmian had joined Parma on a four-year deal as the defender returns to his homeland.
This was a transfer which always had to go through, and probably should have been done last year, but United fans will remember Darmian fondly, I hope.
While hardly up to the pace of Premier League football at times, his doggedness, his intuitive eye for defending in a truly Italian way, was something to admire. That performance against Ajax in the Europa League final, during which he shut down their left-hand side, was a masterclass in how to cancel out a threat.
Moreover, as others have dwindled and thrown toys out of the pram, Darmian always stuck to the task, never complained, just got on with it. We wish him well back in Italy. Ciao and gratze, Matteo.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been adamant that his star player will remain at the club despite rumours suggesting otherwise.
There were also claims Pogba was unhappy at United but the Norwegian boss insisted he has no issues with staying put.
The talented Frenchman has made it publicly known he’d love to play for Madrid under Zinedine Zidane’s leadership so it shouldn’t be a surprise should he eventually move there.
Solskjaer may have just survived the battle to keep the former Juventus man but it’s likely he won’t be able to do the same thing again next summer.
According to the Mirror, Pogba will resist signing a new deal with the Red Devils as he’s adamant he sees his future at Madrid.
The sensational midfielder has two years remaining to his current deal with Solskjaer’s side said to have an option to extend it to three.
This means Manchester United are in the driving seat in terms of his future but they will not want the transfer saga from affecting the club any longer than it has to.

Selling the former Juventus star would almost guarantee Manchester United will once again miss out on Champions League football next season.
After all, a team is only as good as its midfield and even with Pogba involved, Solskjaer’s engine room needs some serious and heavy investing.

Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood will be heavily relied upon to come up with the goods this season and so far they’ve done ok.
Bigger tests are on the horizon but it’s fair to say they’ve started well so far and there’s hope they can continue.
Rashford was heavily criticised for missing a host of chances during the disappointing 1-1 draw with 10-man Southampton but has otherwise grabbed two goals and one assist in the four matches played so far.
Manchester United star Nemanja Matic has risked facing the wrath of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after being caught liking a comment on one of his Instagram posts following the disappointing draw to Southampton.
The experienced Serbian was brought on as a substitute but couldn’t help inspire his teammates to a win despite their opponents playing with ten men.

Reports had emerged earlier of the defensive midfielder’s wish to leave if he can’t be granted first-team football with AC Milan said to have been interested.
The European transfer window ends tomorrow but it’s unlikely Solskjaer will allow an already light in numbers midfield from getting even lighter.
However, Matic will likely face some form of punishment unless he can prove he was hacked or wasn’t responsible.
Eric Bailly previously was hacked in a similar way with the hackers going on to like some rather insulting comments or posts.
Nonetheless, this mess is unlikely to help Matic win his place back in the starting XI and after his less than inspiring performance as a substitute, he’s probably fallen further down the pecking order.
With the Premier League season well and truly under way, Chelsea are starting to impress in the league, with Mason Mount and Tammy Abraham being standout performers so far.
With Chelsea currently sitting 9th in the league, they are beginning to show their class, and their youngsters are performing brilliantly for Frank Lampard’s team. With one win, two draws and one loss in their first four Premier League games, it hasn’t been a stellar start to the season, but they are showing that they can compete despite their current transfer ban, and performances have been encouraging.
Mount, Abraham, Kurt Zouma and Fikayo Tomori, amongst others, all returned from their loans this summer, and have been given a chance in the first team by Lampard, and this decision has payed off. Mount has scored two goals in his first four appearances, and has really shone in the Chelsea midfield. Abraham is currently on four goals in four games, and is really finding his scoring boots for Chelsea, which will come as a relief for Lampard, who has limited striking options. Zouma is yet to keep a clean sheet and has scored an own goal, but nevertheless, the Frenchman has played relatively well for Chelsea so far, but has made some key interception and tackles.
However, if Chelsea do want to secure a top four finish this season, they will need to win the games against the so called ‘lesser teams’, and also getting results against the top six teams.
They could also give defender Tomori a chance at centre half, who previously played under Frank Lampard while on loan at Derby last season. And with Callum Hudson-Odoi to return from injury soon, this could be a very exciting Chelsea team, and they will definitely be challenging for top four this season, especially with a very young and talented squad, and a great mix of young and experienced players.
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has insisted everything is on the right track despite the poor start to the season endured so far.
The legendary Norwegian’s side are currently sitting in eight place after winning one match, drawing twice and losing once.
The win came in the first match of the season as United thumped Chelsea 4-0 but it’s been downhill ever since.
Solskjaer’s men drew against Wolves in a disappointing manner while they shockingly lost to Crystal Palace at home.
The Red Devils then drew against 10-man Southampton with fans’ frustrations continuing to grow with more difficult teams yet to be faced.
According to Manchester Evening News, Solskjaer said: “Both Anthony and Marcus played, I don’t know how many games, and have had so many years in this football club and this team. And I expect them to be leading stars.
“Dan James coming in, we don’t expect him to score every game he stars and Mason [Greenwood] today was unlucky. We’re on the right track.”
Solskjaer had also defended his players after the draw with Southampton, claiming that their form hasn’t dipped and instead the results have.
What he meant was Manchester United have been putting in good performances but simply haven’t gotten the results they deserve which in and of itself is rather debatable.
Nonetheless, the club’s already angry fanbase probably won’t hold out for much longer if the players don’t grab a win after the international break.
Solskjaer couldn’t have asked for a better time to regroup himself and his players so hopefully they don’t pick up where they left off.
England manager Gareth Southgate has defended his decision to include Jesse Lingard in the first-team squad despite admitting the player isn’t in the best of form.
The versatile attacker has been heavily criticised by Manchester United fans for his rather anonymous performances of late with even Ole Gunnar Solskjaer dropping him in the disappointing draw against Southampton.
Juan Mata started that fixture in the number ten role but even he unfortunately couldn’t inspire his side to a much needed win.
Lingard was publicly protected by Solskjaer much to the annoyance of the supporters but he was never going to criticise the academy product in front of everyone.
United’s problems are bigger than the 26 year old’s form anyways with their poor start to the season seeing them languish in eight place already.
According to the Independent, Southgate said: “I think you’d have to say I’ve seen him have better spells for United.
“I think Ole has a young, energetic team, and I think Jesse’s pressing and the energy he brings to that has been an important part of what they’ve tried to do in the first few games.
“The inclusion of Jesse for us is partly because his form for us has always been good.
“I know there was stats on his goals. He was only involved in four games for us last season because of injury – two starts and two off the bench.
“He scored two and had a goal disallowed when he came on in the Nations League game. He had a very good World Cup.
“When you’re selecting a team, there’s half an eye on club form but also I don’t remember a game where he’s been really poor for us.
“He has different attributes. I think for him and for everybody else, there is serious competition and if they aren’t scoring for us or they aren’t scoring for their clubs, that can make things more difficult.
“But, equally, I think it’s good that we support him at this moment, in that you could argue club-wise, he’s on the fringes and whether he should be ahead of others.
“But I don’t think there are too many that we haven’t included that should be ahead of him, and his performance for us has been very, very good.”
It’s probably for the same reasons Solskjaer plays Lingard that he keeps him on board despite the poor form.
The talented Englishman’s pace, energy and pressing ability are all crucial to the legendary Norwegian’s style of football.
Unfortunately until a better attacking-midfielder is brought into the club, it’s likely fans will see plenty of Lingard this season.
The question is how does Solskjaer help him regain the form that saw him so highly praised just over a year ago?

Arsenal have confirmed that Nacho Monreal and Mohamed Elneny have left the club to Besiktas and Real Sociedad respectively (via Arsenal.com).
All eyes will be on the North London Derby this afternoon but in the lead-up to the match, Arsenal have confirmed the departures of two players.
Nacho Monreal has completed his permanent move to Real Sociedad while Mohamed Elneny has joined Besiktas on loan.
Monreal has been a key player for the Gunners since making his move to the club way back in 2013.
The Spaniard made 250 appearances for the club, helping Arsenal win three FA Cups with several years of consistent performances.
The Egyptian midfielder has long been linked with an exit from the club since making his move from FC Basel in 2016. He made 89 appearances and lifted the 2017 FA Cup title.
It’s a shame especially to see Nacho Monreal leave the club. The Spaniard has been perhaps the club’s most consistent player in the last five years but at 33 years old, it feels like the right time for Monreal to leave. Meanwhile, Mohamed Elneny’s departure has long been signposted. It’s only a loan deal this time around but it would be a surprise to see the Egyptian play for the Gunners again.
