Manchester United are reportedly keen on signing Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount.
According to David Ornstein (The Athletic), United are among the club ‘seriously interested’ in the Englishman.
Mount’s is nearing the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge, and many expect him to leave in the summer
The 24 year old has been under immense criticism this season due to his poor performances in a blue shirt.
Todd Boehly, however, reiterated his desire to keep him at the club in a meeting that took place last Friday.
“Talks have been postponed until the summer when Chelsea intend to extend Mount’s contract or sell the midfielder.”
From a United point of view, Mount would be a rather interesting choice.
He is a versatile player and can operate in a number of positions.
Under the right coaching, Mount has the qualities to develop into a top-class midfielder.
Ten Hag favours players with physicality and tenacity, so Mount could fit in well in his plans.
It is to be seen how United approach the summer transfer window.
Ten Hag has identified a striker as the priority position, so United are expected to spend the majority of their budget on him.
While Mount would certainly improve the overall quality of the squad, it seems unlikely that he would immediately get into the starting lineup.
