It’s only the fifth day of the January transfer window being open and news of incomings and outs at Arsenal is coming in hot, the latest bit of good news doing the rounds is that Mikel Arteta’s side have reportedly ‘won the race’ to sign Real Sociedad star Alexander Isak.
The Swedish striker has eight goals this season and would be a hugely welcome addition if Arsenal can get a deal over the line for the 22-year-old.
According to a report via the Mirror, Real Sociedad have blocked any advances from La Liga rivals Barcelona, opening the door for Arsenal to swoop – the Spanish side would rather see Isak move abroad than to a direct competitor.
Arsenal’s desire to sign a new goalscorer has escalated since the fall-out with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with a u-turn on his future looking increasingly unlikely.
Since signing for Real Sociedad in 2019, Alexander Isak has netted 41 times – scoring a total of 76 club career goals, while chipping in with 17 assists.
