Manchester United legend Paul Scholes was not left impressed by the referee’s decision to send Fred off during the defeat to PSG.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men fell to a 3-1 loss despite playing quite well but unfortunately, the tenacious Brazilian’s sending off left his teammates in the lurch.
United’s qualification to the next round of the Champions League now hangs in the balance and they only have themselves to blame.
Scholes was covering the match as a pundit and was not pleased with how the referee conducted himself, suggesting the blame lay with him and not the player or manager.
Fred was sent off for two yellow cards with the first coming after somewhat of a headbutt against an opponent and the second coming after a rough challenge even though he won the ball first.
Paul Scholes on Fred getting the red card: “The ref was literally waiting for it to happen”

The Manchester United staff, including Solskjaer, protested the referee’s decision but unfortunately it never got reviewed and Fred was forced to leave the field.
Fans were surprised the former Shakhtar Donetsk man was even on the field for the second half as it was obvious even to the average observer that he was always going to get sent off.
Fred wasn’t the sole reason United lost the fixture but it obviously didn’t help matters, particularly as the team was attempting to get an equaliser at the time.
