Lowest in the league: The main reason for United's poor form in the PL

Manchester United have been shockingly poor in front of goal according to the latest statistics following their narrow win vs West Brom.

There are fans who argue the performance vs the relegation candidates was not as bad as it seems and that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men deserved more than what the 1-0 scoreline suggested.

West Brom’s Sam Johnstone certainly made a number of impressive saves but unfortunately, United’s attackers were not at their clinical best either.

United only overcame their opponents thanks to a Bruno Fernandes penalty and appeared tired for the most part.

Their finishing was certainly tired and Solskjaer must get more out of his players if he hopes to enjoy success this season.

Man Utd forwards have converted just 7.7% of all shots attempted in the league this season, the lowest conversion-rate among all Premier League teams this season.

Manchester United’s attackers haven’t suddenly forgotten how to finish so there’s only two potential explanations for what’s going wrong.

The first is that this period is an anomoly and that the statistic is only temporary as opposition goalkeepers have made sensational saves of late.

The other explanation is some form of fatigue or lack of sharpness has already hit the United squad and so they’re struggling to put chances they’d normally convert in the back of the net.

Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Edinson Cavani are all not poor finishers and don’t deserve the statistic above and so this issue must be quickly resolved so the team can continue climbing up the table.
