Manchester United prospect Tahith Chong has refused to commit his future to the club despite rumours over a transfer to Juventus.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men face the possibility of once again losing one of their young stars to the Italian giants just as they did with Paul Pogba.
Chong’s contract is on the cusp of running out and there doesn’t seem to be any signs that a renewal is close to completion.
Foreign clubs can begin speaking to the young Dutchman as early as January so there’s not much time left if United are serious in terms of holding onto him.
Solskjaer is believed to be a fan of the academy product having praised him in the past on multiple occasions.
According to the Mirror, Chong said: “It’s early right now. I’m still a player of Manchester United and the season is in full swing. My focus is on that.
“The contract will come naturally. I am now focusing on this season.”
It’s been rumoured that multiple top clubs, not just Juventus, are interested in signing Chong which is probably delaying contract negotiations.
With Marcus Rashford and Daniel James dominating the wings, there’s little room for the 19 year old to regularly get minutes.
Andreas Pereira, Juan Mata and even Mason Greenwood are all ahead in the pecking order as well but it’s not really a surprise given Chong hasn’t made the most of the opportunities he was handed so far.
