Manchester United are expected to receive a bid worth £13m from AS Roma for defender Chris Smalling in the ‘next few days’, according to the reliable Fabrizio Romano.
The Englishman joined Roma on a basic season-long loan worth £2m over the summer after Man United signed Harry Maguire from Leicester City.
Smalling has impressed with his performances in Rome, scoring his first goal for the club against Udinese on Wednesday, and is somebody that the Serie A club wants to keep.
According to Romano, Roma will offer United a fee of around £13m to sign Smalling on a permanent deal next summer.

Smalling himself is keen on staying at Roma, where he is playing well and seems like a popular figure, which means that the final decision lies with United, who will have decide whether to accept the money now or wait until the summer before making a final decision on the defender.
You suspect that all parties will ultimately decide that a move to Serie A serves as the best option for Smalling, who is no longer a starter at Old Trafford.
