Manchester United are among 20 European clubs who are monitoring the situation of Red Bull Salzburg striker Erling Braut Haaland ahead of next summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Norwegian striker, who Ole Gunnar Solskjaer knows from his time at Molde, shot to fame by scoring four goals on his Champions League debut against Genk last month.
Moreover, his accumulation of 22 goals in all competitions so far this term – 12 in 10 games in the Austrian Bundesliga, six in the Champions League, four in the domestic cup – has forced Man United to sit up and take notice.
According to Romano, United are in good company, with another 19 clubs – including Juventus – taking interest in the striker.
In a way, this does not really constitute news. Any striker playing at the top level who scores 22 goals before November even starts is bound to be ‘tracked’ by United, who are, without doubt, monitoring a high number of players all over the world as we speak.
Haaland is, however, something of a Solskjaer striker – lanky and slippery, surprisingly quick, comes alive in the box, knows where the goal is.
One thing is for sure: that we will be hearing a lot more of this guy over the coming months.
