Former RB Leipzig manager Ralf Rangnick is open to the prospect of becoming Manchester United manager, according to a report from Germany.
The 61-year-old has been mentioned as one of the key candidates to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is under pressure having lost four Premier League games so far this term.
Rangnick, who oversaw Leipzig’s promotion to the Bundesliga, specialises in player development and laying down a long term winning strategy.
According to Christian Falk from Bild, Rangnick would be interested in the role should United decide to dispense with Solskjaer.
Rangnick is a highly intelligent, stately gentleman, educated on these shores as well as internationally, imbibing the lessons of many footballing cultures in his long career – lessons that he applied to Leipzig, who in the space of no time at all went from the second division to the Champions League.
While we should, for the moment, support Solskjaer, it seems likely that there will come a time when United lose patience and decide on picking somebody else to oversee a long term strategy. There are worse people than Rangnick to overdo it.
