There is a considerable amount of excitement around Arsenal loanee William Saliba ahead of his permanent move to the club next summer.
The young centre-back is developing extremely well at Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne and is highly thought of in France, as he is in Spain by Real Madrid.
Now, a local Saint-Etienne journalist has revealed the player’s biggest strengths and weaknesses, giving some more insight on the player Arsenal have signed.
“He is a symbol of the club and its background,” Macky Diong of the local newspaper Le Progres explained. “He is almost the darling of the club, the one everybody loves.
“He is currently playing in the centre of a three but he is also very comfortable in back four. He can play left centre-half, as well as right centre-half, and was even very good at right-back when he had to fill in there.”
But it’s not all plain sailing for Saliba. “He still has to improve his concentration,” Diong continued. “Sometimes, he makes positional errors.”
It’s an interesting series of quotes from this local journalist. The more is revealed about Arsenal new boy William Saliba, the more there is to like about him. It seems as if the Gunners have signed a fine young player who is much needed in this defence.
