Manchester United great Wes Brown has revealed just who he wants his former side to sign in the upcoming January transfer window.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is likely to bring in a fresh face or two but only if the right players become available for the right prices.
United have showed restraint under the legendary Norwegian’s management and they have been calculated in their transfers so far.
All three of Solskjaer’s signings in Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James have walked right into the starting XI and have been impressive so far.
However, investment is necessary so the question becomes just what are of the field does the Red Devils’ attention need to be turned to the most?
According to 888Sport, Brown said: “I think Ole will try and buy in January. United need another striker and an attacking midfielder, that little wizard number 10.
“The defence is fine. The goalkeepers are fine. The ideal thing would be two strikers and two midfielders. If only it was that easy!
“Grealish in the last few games has come on immensely. He can always see the pass. Maddison has always been good and he’s a threat getting into the box.
“These are two young English players who would definitely help the squad.”
An attacking-midfielder is definitely needed but if Fred and Scott McTominay continue to perform impressively alongside each other then it may free up Paul Pogba to play that role.
If it does then it may be the case that Manchester United would need to invest in squad depth rather than improving their starting XI but it is a big if.
The aforementioned pair have shown good form of late but it would be risky to gamble on them performing outstandingly all season long.
