Manchester United are reportedly optimistic of signing Leicester City star James Maddison next year despite neutrals feeling it will be difficult to complete.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer only just raided the Foxes for Harry Maguire last summer in a world record fee for a defender but it seems he may do something similar once more.
Maddison fits the club’s transfer policy of signing emerging British talent so it only makes sense he’s on the radar.
However, Leicester are unlikely to sell for cheap and so it should take United quite some convincing to get the deal done.
Of course, it’s also entirely possible Brendan Rodgers’ men finish above Solskjaer’s stars and so that could complicate any deal as well.
According to Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils are optimistic because they feel Maddison being a boyhood fan of the club coupled with him being close to Harry Maguire should be enough to see the transfer happen.
The young Englishman will definitely walk right into the starting XI and should prove to be a smart investment.
However, there are too many variables involved in this deal as aforementioned so there’s no guarantee it will happen.
Some fans would argue the club’s engine room is in dire need of investment and bringing in Maddison could help going some way in resolving this issue.
