Fred 4 – A real shocker. So much potential there, as shown in a couple of movements, but seemingly also where attacks go to die. The Brazilian’s ponderousness in possession suggests he needs more minutes under his belt.
Daniel James 5 – Solskjaer ‘s decision to play him at number nine and then in central attacking midfield did not work, with the Welshman starved of space until being substituted for Marcus Rashford.
Angel Gomes 5 – Did his best to pirouette and slalom into gaps further forward, only to find himself constantly surrounded by red shirts.
Juan Mata 4 – Against a team playing a low block and with no movement to play with, Mata was rendered functionally useless for most of the game.
Mason Greenwood 4 – Not his day, which is fair enough given that he’s just turned 18. The man cannot perform every time. Spurned the one chance that came his way and offered very little movement in the box – something he needs to work on.
