Former Manchester United manager David Moyes has revealed just how it was working with the heavily under first executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.
Fans have begun turning on him given how he’s overseen multiple years of failure and three managers being sacked.
Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho in particular were credible, top managers who couldn’t turn things around long enough under Woodward’s leadership.
Moyes himself got the least amount of time having been sacked around seven months into his tenure.
Woodward has been blamed in the past, particularly by Van Gaal, as being the man at fault for the club’s demise.
According to talkSPORT, Moyes said: “I found him [Woodward] fine to work with, I’ve got to say. He was really new to the job.
“One of the big losses I found was probably David Gill leaving Manchester United, because he was the one who worked with Sir Alex, and with both Sir Alex and David Gill going it was new for myself and Ed Woodward going in.”
Six years on from Moyes’ tenure and Manchester United are still in ‘transition’ much to the annoyance of fans who believe the board are inept at making footballing decisions.
Hopefully under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that turns around but no one is holding their breath with the board and owners under the most criticism arguably since they arrived.
It’s rather surprising to hear Moyes not complain of Woodward given his apparent desire to sign top players like Toni Kroos and Cesc Fabregas but failing to acquire them.
The experienced Scotsman ended up with just two signings over two windows in Marouane Fellaini and Juan Mata.
