Manchester United star Victor Lindelof has responded to rumours linking him with a move to Barcelona as he insists his loyalty remains to his current club.
The Swede’s agent spoke about how now that the player has a new contract he can admit the Spanish champions were chasing him following their failed attempt to sign Matthijs de Ligt.
Lindelof was heavily linked with a transfer to Barcelona but nothing came of it in the end and he now features regularly alongside United’s new signing Harry Maguire.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has more or less sorted out his side’s defensive woes but now the attacking woes have replaced the previous problem.
The Red Devils currently sit in 12th place and the former Benfica man admits he has unfinished business with his current club.
According to Caught Offside, Lindelof said: “A lot has been written, but as far as I am concerned I have a contract with the Red Devils and I am a loyal type.
“For me it was never a doubt, I wanted to stay at United and believe in what we do, that’s why I signed a renewal. I love to represent United and wear that shirt every day.
“My goal since I arrived is to win titles and do good for the fans, but I haven’t won anything yet so my big goal is to do it.”
Hopefully Lindelof and Maguire’s partnership at the back can continue to improve as there have been moments of weakness despite the team’s overall defensive solidity.
The pair have failed to read each other’s movements on occasion earlier on in the season but it seems Solskjaer has recently ironed out those issues too.
Having two ball-playing defenders has improved Manchester United’s distribution from the back but it’s now the midfielders who fail to do anything of note.
