Manchester United have been in trouble all season but face their inconsistent run extending when they face Newcastle with several stars missing.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men have proven to be injury prone this campaign in what is already considered to be a thin squad.
United desperately need all three points as they will face their in-form rivals Liverpool next and so can’t afford to drop any more points.
Solskjaer’s job could quickly become under threat should he fail to get results against the two opponents though there’d arguably be more uproar over a loss to Newcastle.
After all, the Magpies have also been poor this season and really shouldn’t be picking up any points despite the Red Devils’ struggles.
United squad vs Newcastle:
Goalkeepers: De Gea, Romero, Grant.
Defenders: Dalot, Lindelof, Maguire, Tuanzebe, Rojo, Young, Williams.
Midfielders: McTominay, Matic, Fred, Mata, Gomes.
Forwards: Pereira, Chong, Greenwood, Rashford, James.
Notable absentees are Luke Shaw, Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial and Aaron Wan-Bissaka who are all Solskjaer’s first-choice options in their respective positions.
The legendary Norwegian is likely to stick to his 4-2-3-1 formation with Marcus Rashford leading the line and perhaps Daniel James, Andreas Pereira and Juan Mata all behind him.
Nemanja Matic and Scott McTominay will probably partner up in midfield while Ashley Young, Axel Tuanzebe, Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire will potentially form the back four.
