Manchester United starlet Tahith Chong has sent a message to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer by revealing his determination to make the most out of the minutes handed to him.
The young Dutchman has been used sparingly this season after an impressive pre-season, so much so that fans have been calling for him to be handed more starts.
Chong has mostly been used as an impact substitute due to United’s lack of more senior, more talented options.
Solskjaer’s squad is a thin one but the hope is that the younger stars can grab their opportunities and thus strengthen the team.
The Red Devils have failed to impress so far this campaign but a much needed win against Leicester City has temporarily improved the mood.
According to Goal, Chong said: “When Ole Solskjaer took over, the young players were lifted.
“I felt I was dreaming when he gave me a chance in the game against PSG.
“It’s something I dreamt about when I was a kid in the West Indies and I still have the picture in my mind when Marcus Rashford scored the crucial goal for 3-1 in injury-time.
“But at the end of the day it is all down to me. I have to deliver and grab every chance which the manager gives me.”
Chong’s versatility is likely to help him earn more match-time as he’s capable of playing on either flank and even as an attacking-midfielder, although he hasn’t been used in that position yet.
At the moment Daniel James, Andreas Pereira and Marcus Rashford are all ahead of him in the pecking order but should he continue to impress off the bench he may earn a start soon.
Fans are expecting to see plenty of youngsters start in the Europa League fixtures and with one just on the horizon, Chong may be set to get his chance.
