Manchester United great Gary Neville has advised his former club and teammate Ole Gunnar Solskjaer what positions need investing in next.
The legendary Norwegian’s squad are horribly lacking of depth outside the starting XI and that is starting to show now as the injuries pile up.
Solskjaer addressed some of United’s weaknesses over the summer by bringing in a much-needed right-back, centre-back and versatile winger in Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire and Daniel James.
Neville however, has consistently spoken about the need to invest even further and has even pinpointed the positions in need of reinforcement.
Fans have asked for midfielders, a striker and right-winger to be signed but it will be difficult to happen during the January transfer window of course.
According to Manchester Evening News, Neville said: “They need a couple of midfielders, a striker to carry the frontline, a wide player and a left-back. They know what they want and the fans know that.”
The Red Devils’ weaknesses are blatantly obvious but following through with the necessary players will definitely prove more difficult.
Out of the three signings Solskjaer landed, two of them saw negotiations seemingly go on forever with just James being the easy transfer.
Manchester United also seemed incapable of making multiple signings at the same time with Maguire only seemingly pursued after Wan-Bissaka was signed and likewise with Wan-Bissaka and James.
Of course what happens behind the scenes is anyone’s guess but it’s just the view from the outside in.
