Manchester United great Patrice Evra believes the club can longer afford to constantly change their managerial position as it’s harming them.
Since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement, David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho have all come and gone.
The former Everton man was believed to be the underdog who can surprise plenty but instead he surprised everyone with how low United finished that season.
Van Gaal was the experienced, multi-trophy winning coach who was going to steady the ship and transition the club to a better future.
Mourinho had similar characteristics but after several seasons of failure from previous managers, he was brought in simply to win at all costs.
According to Sky Sports, Evra said: “We’ve had too many managers, David Moyes, [Louis] van Gaal, [Jose] Mourinho. I just think for the players it’s difficult.
“One manager wants to play one way, another manager wants to play another way, you need to know the value of the club and Manchester United.
“That’s why I think Ole is a good appointment for the club. He knows the philosophy of the club.
“It’s difficult when you come to Manchester United from the outside, people don’t accept you straight away. You need to bleed for this club before people accept you.
“We are a big club. We want to win trophies. We don’t want to spend more than 10 years without winning the league again. It’s not easy but the fans have to believe – it’s a process.”
It’s not necessarily Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s knowledge of Manchester United that should him stay but rather how clear a vision he has and how the team is progressing under his leadership.
It’s still early days but he’s also proven himself in the transfer market though he’ll feel let down by the board for their failure to invest further.
Though results haven’t been up to scratch so far this season, the team has improved and there’s the feeling it could lead to greatness if the now frustrated fans could somehow remain patient long enough.
