Rob Holding and Emile Smith Rowe both featured for Arsenal’s Under-23 side last night as they continued their injury comebacks (via Arsenal.com).
Arsenal racked up their first three points on Sunday but there are still a lot of players still to come into the side.
The Gunners could field an entire starting eleven which didn’t feature against Newcastle United on Sunday.
Rob Holding was one of them with the Englishman still continuing his rehabilitation from the ruptured anterior cruciate knee ligament injury last year.
The 23-year-old has been out since December 2018 but played 63 minutes during Arsenals Under-23’s 3-1 win over Blackburn Under-23.
Also making his comeback was Emile Smith Rowe. The 19-year-old spent a few months on loan at RB Leipzig last season but has been out with a groin injury for a couple of months.
He started his first match and watched 18-year-old striking sensation Folarin Balogun score a hat-trick in the 3-1 victory.
It’s great to see these two players make their respective comebacks. Emile Smith Rowe is at an age where he just needs to play as much football as possible while Rob Holding is needed in the first-team. The centre-back won’t be back to his best for a few months but still, it’s good to see that the process has reached this stage.
