Manchester United legend Gary Neville has explained just why Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had to sell Romelu Lukaku as well as backing him in the transfer market.
The prolific Belgian ended his time at Old Trafford during the summer as he managed to complete a dream move to Inter Milan.
Lukaku had a mixed time at United with his numbers being acceptable but fans couldn’t fully warm up to him.
After all there were spells of scoring droughts, a poor first-touch and the issue of him being overweight that all concerned fans.
Neville has often used Lukaku as the prime example of a player the Red Devils’ should be looking to weed out over the years.
Gary Neville: "Lukaku was 105kg, he admitted himself he's overweight. I think there's about three or four players the club would like to get rid of – I think getting rid of them all at once though, would weaken the club and weaken the team for the season." #mulive [sky]

Neville: "I think he's [Solskjær] getting rid of them one at a time and he's bleeding them out of the club." #mulive [sky]

It would be interesting to know just who Neville believes should be moved on as at the moment Manchester United’s depth isn’t at it’s best.
It’d certainly be more interesting to see who Solskjaer will move on eventually as he hasn’t actually sold anyone besides Marouane Fellaini as of yet.
Ander Herrera and Antonio Valencia were both also moved on but only at the end of their contracts.
There’s definitely dead wood that needs to be cleared out by Solskjaer and it will take time to make that happen.
