Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of young Chelsea goalkeeper Marcin Bulka following the expiration of his contract at Stamford Bridge.
The 19-year-old moves to the French capital on a two-year deal until 30 June 2021 and looks set to be utilised as the club’s back-up goalkeeper behind Alphonse Areola.
After signing on the dotted line, Bulka told the official club website how delighted he was to be joining the Ligue 1 champions:
I am really pleased and honoured to join Paris Saint-Germain today. Not only is this club a great reference in France and Europe, but it is also renowned for allowing many young players to express their potential in recent years. After my experience in England, I will do my best to continue my progress here with a fantastic squad and especially with top level goalkeepers.
The Poland youth international arrived at Chelsea from FCB Escola Varsovia in 2016 and helped the club secure back-to-back U18 Premier League titles in 2017 and 2018.
Standing at 6’3″, Bulka is an intimidating presence between the sticks and it came as a surprise to many that the Blues couldn’t tie him down to a new contract in West London.
Chelsea have got a solid long-term option in Kepa though, and it’d be great to see Bulka go on and achieve good things in Europe.
