Manchester United are reportedly still planning on continuing their search for a technical director despite club legend Nicky Butt recently earning himself a promotion.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s backroom staff had a reshuffle over the past few days and it felt as though that was the club’s way of sneaking the lack of a director of football under the radar.
Butt’s new role was quite suggestive that there wouldn’t be any more hirings but United have cleared the situation up recently.
It seems the club are attempting to be more organised, whipping themselves up into shape before appointing the cherry on the cake so to speak.
Solskjaer is likely the man who has been consulting with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward over getting the club in the order he wants.
According to Manchester Evening News, Nicky’s promotion to head of first-team development will have no effect on the Red Devils’ plans for appointing a technical director. They are still looking to bring in someone who fits the culture of the club and shares their views.
It’s quite telling that Ole has managed to do what Jose Mourinho didn’t after both the Portuguese manager and Louis van Gaal publicly complained of the club’s structure.
Perhaps the fired pair weren’t allowed the power the former striker is currently enjoying but whatever the case is, it’s good Manchester United are finally sorting out their behind the scenes.
