Ajax star Matthijs de Ligt can reportedly pick from four other clubs other than Manchester United, placing in great jeopardy their interest in him.
The Dutchman is perhaps the most wanted footballer on the planet at the moment due to his performances for his club over the past season.
Although he has been impressive for a few campaigns now, Ajax’s run to the semi-final of the Champions League saw him garner even more attention.
De Ligt was instrumental in that run with United seemingly targeting him to short up their leaky defence.
However, with several top clubs interested, it now appears less likely than ever they will get their hands on the youngster.
According to Manchester Evening News, Dairio Sport report that Matthijs can pick from the Red Devils, Juventus, Barcelona, PSG and Liverpool.
All four clubs have more to offer than Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side yet some reports still claim he has an advantage.
Juventus and PSG can almost guarantee the league title while Liverpool have just won the Champions League.
Barcelona have been searching for a successor to Gerard Pique and their stature is difficult to compete with.
Meanwhile Manchester United only have Europa League football to offer and hardly a chance at winning any silverware next season.
