Reports in his home country suggest that Youssef En-Nesyri has opened talks with Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund over a summer transfer (via Fox Asia).
Of all the positions Arsenal need to reinforce this summer, the striker slot seems pretty secure.
Unless one of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang or Alexandre Lacazette is sold, it seems unlikely that the Gunners will make a move for a striker.
Which is why these reports are a little surprising. An Algerian publication has claimed that Arsenal will open talks with CD Leganes over the signing of Youssef En-Nesyri.
En-Nesyri is a 21-year-old striker who joined CD Leganes last summer and finished as the side’s top scorer. An Algerian international, he scored a goal against Spain in last season’s FIFA World Cup.
Now, reports suggest that the player’s agent will fly to London to hold talks with Arsenal.
The Gunners aren’t the only side interested in the player with Borussia Dortmund and Schalke keen on the 21-year-old who is said to be available for €10 million.
It’s an interesting story. Arsenal do have two excellent strikers already but with Danny Welbeck set to leave the club, an alternative on the bench would be good. However, given the player’s seeming lack of flexibility, this may not be the best use of Arsenal’s limited transfer budget.
