Manchester United star Paul Pogba has opened up, for the first time, on his move to Old Trafford and how his then world record fee impacted him.
The Frenchman can seemingly never shake off his critics despite winning multiple titles with Juventus, the World Cup with France and the Europa League and Carabao Cup with United.
Jose Mourinho’s ill fated third season in charge and the change in management still saw Pogba put in impressive numbers- in fact, it was his most productive season yet as he scored 16 goals and assisted 11 times across all competitions.
However, some fans are still unfazed and wouldn’t complain too much if the midfielder was moved on so long as the Red Devils spend to replace him.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer clearly rates Paul but it appears there’s nothing he could do right after moving to Old Trafford for £94.5m.
Pogba: ”Because it was the biggest transfer in history at the time, you get judged differently. They expect more from you because of the price tag. A good game would be a normal game. A top game would be a good game. It's a big amount." #mufc [Times]

Pogba: “It went down when other transfers came, so it's fine. I think it's also because I'm a midfielder. People see more strikers because they score goals, so that's why it made such a big impact. I don't think (Neymar and Mbappe) get it because they're strikers.” #mufc [Times]

Pogba: “I knew it would come with it (transfer fee). I knew there would be a big impact. But I didn't know it would go so negative. When I signed, I wasn't used to seeing so many negative comments. It was a big change.” #mufc [Times]

Pogba: “I was surprised. I didn't know a price tag would change so much for people. Maybe they think I have the money. It's not me – I don't have the money. I don't know (the reason for the criticism). I wish I knew so I could help them get the answer." #mufc [Times]

Pogba is Manchester United’s top goalscorer and top assister for the season and it’s time he’s respected for the quality player he is.
The fact is, Solskjaer’s side would be worse off without him and chasing him out of Old Trafford isn’t the solution to the club’s problems.
Having said that, it’s clear Paul needs to find more consistency to his game and prove his leadership potential.
