Ajax star Matthijs de Ligt’s future has taken yet another turn after reports emerged over a side potentially beating both Manchester United and Barcelona to his signature.
The Dutchman has quickly emerged as football’s most sought after teenager due to his performances for his club this season, particularly in the Champions League.
United are understandably after the centre-back given their defensive woes in the previous Premier League campaign.
De Ligt can pretty much choose whatever club he wants to join and he’s insisted first-team minutes is his most important deciding factor.
However, recent reports suggest that isn’t quite the case and so Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may not have a shot after all.
According to ESPN, PSG are best placed to sign Matthijs, forcing Barcelona to push their offer for him one last time with the Red Devils believed to be on the sidelines of matters.
Solskjaer could arguably offer the most money but it’s understood that those at Old Trafford are attempting to change their transfer policy.
Whatever the case may be, no Manchester United fan truly believed their side was in for De Ligt’s signature.
After all, Ole only has Europa League football to offer and no real possibility of winning any silverware.
