Manchester United are reportedly only willing to offload Romelu Lukaku for cash having previously received player plus cash offers.
The Belgian has played second fiddle to Marcus Rashford ever since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s arrival and that’s said to play a part in his desire to leave.
The Norwegian is believed to have not been actively looking to sell the former Chelsea man but his own need for guaranteed minutes means he’ll probably be moved on.
However, United will only accept cash offers, perhaps in order to sign their own targets rather than be given a player they weren’t interested in initially.
Should Lukaku leave, it’s likely Solskjaer will know he can’t rely just on Rashford for goals and so he should spend to bring in a replacement.
According to the Sun, the Red Devils rejected an Ivan Perisic plus cash deal for Romelu as they won’t accept anything less than the £75m they spent on signing him in the first place.
Manchester United have enough trouble as it is investing in the current squad and so don’t need the added problems of searching for replacements.
Losing Lukaku for such a fee would also mean whichever club Ole goes on to approach will definitely over value their player in order to extract more money.
