Manchester United may have hit a major stumbling block in their chase for Aaron Wan-Bissaka after Crystal Palace named their asking price.
The youngster has been a target of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s all summer but negotiations between the two sides have dragged for too long.
It’s clear the two clubs are failing to agree on the Englishman’s value and it could soon reach the stage where talks will break down.
Wan-Bissaka has enjoyed a successful season in London with many keen observers believing he actually deserved to make his debut for his country.
Unfortunately that didn’t happen but such were his performances that now United are willing to spend big to sign him.
According to the Daily Mail, despite the Red Devils’ £40m bid and Aaron’s desire to move to Old Trafford, Crystal Palace will hold out for £70m and nothing less.
Solskjaer has to set the tone this summer and refuse to overspend even if it means missing out on top talent.
Manchester United have too often been taken for a ride with prices and this is the downfall of their own doing.
There must be cheaper, and more importantly more accurately valued, talent elsewhere such as PSG’s Thomas Meunier who is practically begging to be bought.
