Lyon star Tanguy Ndombele has confirmed he wishes to depart the club in what is surely a boost for Manchester United and their efforts to return to the top of English football.
The Frenchman has emerged as a target of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after some impressive performances in Ligue 1 and fans have also been calling for his signature.
The midfielder was seen as someone United could invest in should Paul Pogba leave but since Ander Herrera has already departed, some supporters have suggested signing him as the replacement.
Ndombele is believed to be one of France’s brightest prospects and with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said to be planning on investing in his midfield, it fits the narrative he would want to sign the youngster.
Lyon have been asking for a large sum however and that appeared to complicate matters should an approach be made but that now appears to no longer be a problem.
According to the Mirror, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas said: “He is seeking a departure. Nothing is done but the door may be open.”
Tanguy would be an improvement on Manchester United’s current midfield options and given his open desire to leave, it shouldn’t be too difficult to sign him.
The only issue Solskjaer would face is other clubs’ interest in him with Tottenham said to be the biggest interested party.
