Manchester United have reportedly received a major boost in their pursuit of Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes’ signature as it emerged they will be uncontested in their efforts.
The Portuguese midfielder has been a target of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s since he was given the full role of manager of the club but no deal has materialised as of yet.
Sporting are understood to only be willing to sell for the right price with some reports claiming they’re keen for the transfer to be wrapped up quickly so they can sign a replacement.
In what can only be considered even more good news for United is that they appear to be the only club seriously interested in bringing Fernandes in.
From now onwards it should be smooth sailing if the reports are true but there is still quite a bit to sort out between the clubs and player.
According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham, Liverpool, Manchester City and Leicester City have all ruled out a move for Bruno, leaving the Red Devils with a free shot at signing him with Sporting asking for £50m.
It’s certainly a fee Solskjaer can afford but whether he’s willing to part with such money for a relatively untested player remains to be seen.
