Manchester United star Romelu Lukaku’s list of interested parties has reportedly grown after the player’s admittance to a desire to play in Italy.
Inter Milan were said to be the club chasing the Belgian’s signature the most, particularly after Antonio Conte’s appointment was confirmed.
The Italian was believed to be in for the striker during the former’s time in charge until the latter decided on a switch to Old Trafford.
Conte may finally get his man but he will face tough competition for Lukaku’s signature after Napoli’s interest surfaced.
United now have the auction they would probably be hoping for after it was said they would be willing to offload the former Chelsea man if the price was right.
According to Metro, La Gazzetta Dello Sport report that Napoli have moved to swoop in for Romelu for £62m, as they attempt to beat Inter to the punch.
It’s understood that amount isn’t enough to please the Red Devils but it’s now more likely than ever a move to the Serie A is on the cards.
£80m is the reported fee Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are looking for and given the small price difference, Napoli should be able to stump up the cash if needed.
